About
Strike Final.png

People who invest in the stock market often have trouble knowing when to invest and how to manage their risks. There is a lot of information available, and it can be confusing to find the right guidance for making good investment decisions. Our aim was to create an intuitive interface for traders & investors to analyze markets, access actionable insights, and trade effectively with data visualization.

4 | DISCOVERY

Deep diving into the trading domain

Stakeholder Discovery Sessions 🔍

We had two detailed discovery sessions with the client aimed at understanding the business, users, vision and scope for the Strike application. View the Questionnaire that we prepared.

Heuristic Evaluation ⛳️

To test usability, I utilised various evaluation criteria such as - Jakob Nielsen’s Heuristics, Laws of UX, Gestalt’s design principles, Brand Copy & Labelling, Design principles & Responsiveness & Adaptability. This process enabled us to pinpoint product issues, prioritize them, and deepen our understanding of the domain's intricacies. (see appendix below)

We excavated 170 such issues. 😵‍💫

Issue Prioritisation 🌈

Initially the client requirement was to revamp the visuals of the existing screens. After the heuristic evaluation, we recommended to resolve more strategic critical issues as they would drastically impact the user experience.

Competitor Analysis Report 🥇

We analysed three top competitors - Trendlyne, Stockedge and Tickertape for the following objectives -

  1. Learn from best practices in the industry and know scope for innovation

  2. Gather insights into the intricacies of the trading industry and user behaviour patterns

We summarised our findings into key insights to identify the themes we could leverage in Strike tool as well.

5 | INFORMATION ACHITECTURE

Re-defining navigation

The Problem of Cognitive Overload 😨

In the client version, all the tool's features were upfront as tabs. Now we are talking around 15 of them. We explained to the client, how placing all features upfront is actually counterintuitive to find-ability and ease of use. We went down a rabbit hole of understanding the complex trading jargon and having multiple knowledge transfer sessions with the client to understand in detail each feature they had.

I started to ideate on how and why the user is going to use these features. I came up with three core user journeys that would be intuitive for any trader and investor, and arranged all features under these journeys for better find-ability.

Ideating for Intuitiveness 🧠

Retrospective

01 | I had zero prior knowledge on stocks and it required a lot of self learning, right from basics. In order to build experience for pro traders, empathising with their level of skills and technical capability posed to be challenging in a short span of time. In cases like these, collaboration with the client was extremely helpful as they were domain experts.

02 | Internal collaboration has to be really strong to maintain consistency across the product when you build it from scratch and  working on separate verticals.

03 | Trading is difficult. And I still can't trade to save my life 🙇🏻‍♀️
